《力》(Strength), a Chinese character written in 2 strokes, showcases the 2-stringed Erhu and its versatility, while incorporating musical elements that reflects the likes and preference of the Erhu musician - hints of middle-eastern feel, and a dash of blues music. The piece attempts to explore the different aspects of strength, such as raw strength and inner strength, and seek to eventually unite the two forms into one.

Upbeat and energetic, the piece attempts to evoke a sensation of unison through the music - a scene where people gather and dance together in celebration. 2nd Trilogy of Originals

II - 《人》MAN

BY HUANG PEH LINDE

II - 《人》MAN (Audio)

BY HUANG PEH LINDE

人 (Man) is the first song of our 2nd Trilogy of Originals by the band. 人 (Man) attempts to depict the duality of man's behaviour, the good and bad, the positive and negative, both of which are 2 sides of the same coin. Just like the 2 strokes of the Chinese character 人, behind every initial stroke you see is yet another stroke, hidden from view. However, it is only with the joining of both strokes that produces the character 人. The song explores the good side initially, upon first encounter, before diving into the rear, hidden side. And at the end, both side meets and a sense of realization and enlightenment that it is crucial and inevitable for both to coexist is achieved.

IV - 《天》SKY (Audio)

BY HUANG PEH LINDE

天 (Sky) is the second piece of our 2nd Trilogy of Originals by the band. 天 (Sky) is a piece attempting to depict the journey of man towards freedom and aspirations. Written in 4 strokes, the Chinese character of 天 can be seen as Man 人 reaching out from the ground (the bottom 一 stroke) towards the sky (the upper 一 stroke). The piece starts off with an exciting feeling of setting off on a journey into the skies. It uplifts and portrays imagination (天马行空 - a heavenly steed soaring across the skies), as can be heard from the dubstep section in the middle. Towards the end we hear endless possibilities being depicted by the polyphony in erhu and pipa, driven by the energy of the guitar.

VI - 《地》EARTH (Audio)

BY HUANG PEH LINDE

地 (Earth) is the last piece of our 2nd Trilogy of Originals by the band. 地 (Earth), a 6-stroked Chinese character, is a song of respect and tribute to the Earth, the seedbed of all life. The folk and tribal vibe to the piece is an attempt at imparting the feeling, sensation and energy of people who live with and is one with nature. Let your imaginations run wild and be embraced by the Earth as you listen to the piece - imagine yourself singing in the middle of an endless grass plain, taking a stroll through the forest while watching the raindrops come down onto the soil, or climbing sand dunes in a desert.
